Dana-Spicer Life Series SPL-170 main shaft and inter-axle drive shaft (tandem axle) with half-round yokes is provided standard on most chassis.
Heavy duty, gear reduction, soft-start engaging Delco 39MT starter. Features:
- Over-Crank Protection (OCP) that monitors internal temperature and prevents thermal damage
- Internal Magnetic Switch (IMS) reducing voltage drop and providing maximum available voltage to solenoid
Heavy duty, high output, brushless Delco Remy 40SI alternator. 320-amp peak output, equipped with Remote Sense which can reduce battery charge time by 50%. Pad mounted.
Battery packages include multiple batteries, disconnect switch, and cover options. Battery box fore-aft location on frame can be adjusted. Battery cables are 4/0 sized with molded color-coded ends, covered with heat-resistant corrugated plastic loom.

1" amber light is on when battery disconnect switch is on. Light mounted to disconnect switch bracket.
Cab marker lights are illuminated when the disconnect switch is in the on position.
Far RH marker light is illuminated when the disconnect switch is in the on position.
11 ga steel, painted black. Batteries orientation side by side. Box extends approximately 20" from side of frame.
7 ga steel, painted black. Required on vehicles with X12 engine; optional on L9. Batteries side by side. Box extends approximately 25" from side of frame.
7 ga steel, painted black. Optional on L9 or X12 engines. Batteries side by side and end to end. Box extends approximately 30" from side of frame.
A60 galvannealed steel, 12 ga, painted black. Available on 2-battery configuration only. Battery orientation end to end. Box extends approximately 30" from side of frame.
Raise or lower battery box from standard height. Measured from top of frame to top of battery box cover. Available in 3.5", 12.5", and 13.75" heights.
Textured black cross-linked polyethylene, 3/16" thick. Available on 2 and 3 battery box configurations.
A60 galvannealed steel, 16 ga. Available on 2, 3, and 4 battery box configurations.
Dual 20" retainer cables attach between battery box and cover.
Mounted to LH fender or battery box and wired to either the starter or direct to battery.
