We’re currently searching for a Chief Engineering Director to manage our program & product management team and be the lead program manager for a new vehicle platform. The Chief Engineering Director – Program & Product Management will lead the program management of our BEV program, help us grow and scale and continue our tradition of success. The Chief Engineering Director – Program & Product Management will be responsible for the successful execution of our programs and project management initiatives, and new product development cycles. The primary responsibilities will be to build and lead a team of cross functional experts in project & program management to support the entire organization, management of our new product   introduction (NPI) processes and execute our new vehicle platform program. 

The ideal candidate will have expert level engineering program management experience and team management experience in the automotive/heavy duty truck space and   have a roll-up-your sleeves mentality to execute. The ideal candidate will be a mechanical/project/electrical engineer, very organized,   familiar with vehicle systems including powertrain and chassis system design   and integrations, have successful experience launching entire vehicle platforms in an accelerated timeline, is familiar with the intricacies of a fast-paced environment, have a strong desire for growth and be a great communicator. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Create and lead the Program & Product Management team. This will include coaching and mentoring an   entire team as we grow and scale. In   the interim it will include training and process review, managing a new vehicle platform launch and rolling up your sleeves and doing whatever is necessary to complete the project. 
  • Work collaboratively with the design engineering team on the design and release of new order configurations, existing   platform enhancements and new product design
  • Coordinate deliverables between engineering, production, project/process team, supply chain, procurement, and sales & marketing to execute on key initiatives on time.
  • Lead the NPI (new product introductions) process for product development.
  • Manage program and project teams for optimal return-on-investment, and coordinate and delegate cross-project initiatives.
  • Reports out to executive leadership on open project statuses weekly, identifying roadblocks and providing solutions. 
  • Contribute ideas to product development and process improvement initiatives.
  • Oversight of product deployment & integration
  • Direct the testing and validation process of new products, product enhancements, alternative supplier review, quality assessments, field service resolutions, etc. 
  • Responsible for the program launch of our new platform development. 
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Lead our process improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Comfortable with complex problem solving and rapidly changing priorities
  • Comfortable in high pressure environments during rapid ramp up periods (as is the case during next six months)

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BS or higher in Engineering or equivalent and relevant industry experience. MSXX (Master of Engineering) desired
  • 10+ years of commercial and/or automotive OE industry experience. Class 8 truck chassis development or EV OE experience highly desired.
  • 10+ years of practical experience in technical program/project management (PMP certification a plus)
  • 10+ years of implementation of LEAN processes, systems, and behaviors with touchpoints in production, quality, maintenance, and materials in an OEM automotive environment.
  • Practical experience in using any of these tools: SOLIDWORKS-EE, Auto CAD, Arcadia, Altium

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Understanding of high voltage energy storage and   charge systems in EVs· Familiarity with related regulations, FMVSS/SAE   standards, and practices
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage several different tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate across the organization and lead presentations.
