We are currently searching for a CAE Engineer specializing in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other Computer Assisted Engineering (CAE) disciplines to join our team, to help us grow and scale and continue our tradition of success. The CAE Engineer is responsible for conducting both basic and complex FEA analyses as well as directing the team through physical data collection for model correlation. This is a senior engineering position that will have the opportunity to build systems and procedures around structural analyses for Battle Motors.
This role is very critical to our extreme growth and the ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer with a business mind, a savvy leader, very organized, and familiar with heavy truck parts/automotive product development and is familiar with the intricacies of a fast-paced environment, have a strong desire for growth and be a great communicator.
This position is a hybrid role that can be conducted in a remote location primarily but will require at least 50% regular travel to the Battle Motors facility in New Philadelphia, OH.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain standardized processes and procedures for simulation projects, including receipt of requests, data collection, and reporting.
- Conduct FEA simulations including structural response to dynamic loading, modal analysis, and fatigue.
- Consult with design engineers on how to prepare designs for structural robustness and efficiency, ahead of computer analysis.
- Advise on real-world data collection for model correlation.
- Analyze test data and compile results into standardized simulation inputs for fatigue and other analyses.
- Work collaboratively with design engineering and R&D teams during the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure the highest quality products are delivered.
- Review customer drawings and specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of product.
- Facilitate NPI (new product introductions) process for product development and identify requirements for new products in the market
- Perform advanced work in development of working layouts and final master parts, assembly, and drawings.
- Act as a liaison between Engineering and other departments/personnel.
- Interact with suppliers, dealers, and customers as required.
- Complete design studies, tolerance stack-ups, layout, drawings, calculations, weight estimates and provide supporting documentation.
- Other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Comfortable with complex problem solving and rapidly changing priorities.
- Comfortable in high pressure environments during rapid ramp up periods (as is the case during next six months)
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field desired. Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering is preferred.
- Experience in product development in automotive/heavy truck braking and steering systems required
- 5+ years of experience working with automotive/truck or heavy equipment structural FEA analyses is required, Class 6/7/8 truck chassis highly desired.
- Expert level proficiency with FEA software is required; ANSYS experience is highly desired.
- 3-D CAD proficiency required; SolidWorks or CREO experience desired.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, required; experience using ERP and CRM programs desired.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Experience with CREO Simulation or SolidWorks Simulation.
- Strong technical skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Experience designing automotive or commercial vehicle electronic braking and steering systems from the ground up
- Ability to effectively work as part of a team with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage several different tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate across the organization and lead presentations.
