The HR Co-op is a proactive business partner; assisting the HR function in areas such as benefits, talent management, performance management, compliance, and employee engagement and retention. 

Onsite 40 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide tactical support to the HR team by completing assigned projects.
  • Improve new employee orientation processes for a more meaningful onboarding experience.
  • Provide support to the HR Administrator and Talent Acquisition with recruiting activities and assist with onsite interviews.
  • Sort mail and distribute accordingly. Assist with benefits and tax notice filing and distribution.
  • Improve and or create new templates such as disciplinary documents and investigation waivers/agreements.
  • Assist with planning employee engagement and recognition events and or programs such as employee events and retention projects.
  • Assist with structuring formal performance management training for managers and supervisors.
  • Resolves moderately complex issues related to the development and implementation of HR processes, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve HR processes to make the HR team more efficient, effective, and strategic.
  • Represent human resources as a member of the safety committee.

Education and Experience  Requirements

  • Must be a current college student at an accredited college or university in Business, Communications or Human Resources or Labor & Employee Relations.
  • One year or more experience working within a Human Resources environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulatory policies.
  • Administrative knowledge of HRIS and online benefits platforms.

Training and Job Knowledge Requirements

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage several different tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done proactively.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional areas in a teamwork environment.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and information. 
  • Strong collaboration skills with the demonstrated ability to successfully work as part of a team.

This position will adhere to the Battle Motors Environmental Health and Safety Program by following all safety rules, procedures, practices, training, and safe use of equipment; this includes use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. This individual will work in a way that stresses the importance of preventing injury, accidents, or illnesses to themselves or co-workers by correcting or reporting unsafe situations, incidents, or occurrences to their supervisor immediately.
