We’re currently searching for a Product Manager to join our team, help us grow and scale and continue our tradition of success. The Product Manager is a proactive business specialist supporting the Engineering team to develop the strategic product roadmap to drive the broader product strategy to deliver exceptional products to the market. This position will be responsible for the launch and ongoing product management of the evolving ICE and EV (electric vehicle) markets and associated parts, service, and dealer opportunities.

This role is very critical to our extreme growth and the ideal candidate will be very organized, familiar with automotive/truck chassis (some technical knowledge is required) and product development processes and is familiar with the intricacies of a fast-paced environment, have a strong desire for growth within a company and be a great communicator. This position will be responsible for working closely with members of sales & marketing, project management, supply chain and operations departments to ensure continuity in product offering and reinforce the company’s strategic goals.

This role does require technical knowledge of vehicles, options, and specifications.    

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the implementation of product and channel strategy for differential products including market analysis, opportunity forecast, ROI Forecast, product line definition, value proposition and marketing strategy, supplier development, cataloging, configuration strategies, sales and dealer training, and achievement of revenue goals
  • Manage the complete product life cycle for all configurations within the product line - Development, Launch, Expansion, Modification, and Discontinuation
  • Conduct and maintain competitor research and benchmarking to communicate product positioning goals and opportunities to the team
  • Perform routine product trend and product gap analysis
  • Analyze new product opportunities and market conditions through trade shows, customer visits (VOC), and field research
  • Work with Sales and Purchasing to ensure company revenue and purchasing goals are met while ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Work with strategic sourcing and engineering teams on supplier development and approval process ensuring high quality product that meets the value proposition of the product line
  • Develop and conduct ongoing training presentations and modules with for the sales and service team
  • Manage all engineering BOM for completion and correctness to ensure accurate demand planning and manufacturability of components
  • Review BOM setup and groupings to identify areas for improvement
  • Review engineering BOM process from order placement to BOM review/release for process improvements
  • Plan and execute configuration management throughout the project lifecycle, including development, migration, and deployment
  • Oversee the daily management of configuration part numbers
  • Communicate with body companies for acceptance of weight distribution, configuration layouts and options
  • Review and update configuration management processes
  • Ensures the proper baseline identification of configuration products, perform periodic audits, and provide verification of version release configuration items
  • Develops, maintains, and implements CM process standards, plans, and procedures.  Ensures changes to the process methods and processes are properly approved, communicated and managed throughout the CM lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and manage specialized custom engineered chassis builds and first prototype builds
  • Schedule and lead design reviews on new platform development projects as per the Stage Gate process
  • Assist organizing various strategic planning processes across the organization
  • Function as primary focal point for engineering capabilities with both internal and external customers including leading feasibility meetings with customers on custom option requests
  • Function as engineering liaison member to provide solutions to various cross functional teams within the organization including production, sales, supply chain among others. 
  • Interact with suppliers, dealers, and customers as required
  • Other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Comfortable with complex problem solving and rapidly changing priorities
  • Comfortable in high pressure environments during rapid ramp up periods (as is the case during next six months)

Qualifications  and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or a related field desired.   Equivalent education and experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management and/or development in automotive/heavy truck industries required
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, required; experience using ERP and CRM programs desired.
  • Experience with EV powertrains highly desired

Preferred experience and skills

  • Strong technical skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to effectively work as part of a team with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage several different tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate across the organization and lead presentations.
